Common Sense in Affiliate Marketing

I did not write this, I copied it from a newsletter and I have put their details on the bottom with no affiliate link.
Sometimes there is good advice and sometimes you need to print it out and digest it. My questions always on my blog – WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR?
This is from two brothers who work and make a lot of money. This is their ethos on how to make money. This is mine for 2009. I will not be using them as I already have my mentor site and my very relaxed mentor. It has taken me 3 years and an amazingly awful expensive course to make me realise that it is in your head, not your wallet.
Hi Di,
Geez, we are sure getting tired of saying the same things over and
over to people that want to succeed…
Like simple mathematics, there is a elementary equation that all
successful people (including ourselves) follow. Today we are going
to tell you what these are, and if you don’t have all the pieces of
the equation, you should start working on them.
Have you ever hit a dead end when you have tried to reach success?
Have you ever thought that you were on the right track to success
only to have everything lifted from under you? How is success
created? In particular, how can you become successful within the
Internet marketing realm?
We created our own success. Nothing was given to us. No one handed
us a business plan on how to become an expert at Internet
marketing. In fact, no one even lent us a hand to tell us how to
succeed. So how did we manage to go from nothing (really, Kyle used
his girlfriends credit card to get started), to the big bad Wealthy
Affiliates?
Because we are abnormal geniuses who were born with more powerful
brains than others!
Yeah right, we are no different than you! We have failed at things
just like you and we have definitely had our share of crappy jobs
like YOU! If you have ever planted trees or sanded rust off of an
old, broken down barge, you will know what we are talking about!
Prior to Internet marketing we have done some of the most
unrewarding jobs out there.
Although we do come up with some profitable ideas, being “better
than others” is not what got us to where we are at today. A simple
formula helped us achieve this success, and many other successful
entrepreneurs will agree that this formula is what helped them
achieve success as well.
Work + Attitude + Goals = Success
WAG = S
Work (The W)
———————————-
If you do not know how to work hard or are not willing to work
hard, then Internet marketing (or owning any business for that
matter) is not for you. You know the old saying, “hard work pays
off”…well, this saying holds true for any business and if you are
willing to work hard, you have a future ahead of you.
You may be saying “I already work my butt off, but why I am not
hugely successful”. The reason is that you are likely working hard
for someone else than working hard for yourself. If you applied
these same blood, sweat and elbow grease towards your OWN business,
the rewards and the profit potential are much greater.
If you have good work ethics you can achieve success regardless of
your situation. If you don’t want to work hard, then success is
just not for you.
Can you work hard?
Attitude (THE A)
———————————-
We’ve have had many bad days, and sometimes weeks, but we are not
afraid to fail. However, you need to be able to keep a winning,
positive attitude during the worst of times. It is easy to be
happy when things are going well, but true success comes when you
can remain positive in the worst of times.
People love to spread negative news. Watch the nightly news and
you will see what we mean. Someone died…our economy is
floundering…business are failing…people are losing their
homes…someone got robbed!!! Where are all the feel good stories?
You have to make the most of everything and your attitude will take
you a long ways. Your attitude is conveyed in all your work,
whether it be a website’s content, and article or your customer
support. Being able to set aside a bad day or bad month and learn
from your mistakes is a major component to Internet marketing
success.
Can you keep a positive attitude?
Goals (THE G)
———————————-
We started with small advertising budgets and because of that, we
set small goals. We believed that if you could generate any sort
of profit, then you could duplicate this success and scale your
business to earn more profits.
If you look at Internet marketing with the mind set that you have
to make $500 per day within the first week, you are just setting
yourself up for disappointment and failure. Why not try to make
$30/day, or even $10/day, and then work towards duplicating your
success?
It’s important to take baby steps and start with realistic goals.
When you are a beginner you need to realize that although your big
goals (the $500/day) should be on the radar, you should be working
towards the shorter term, more achievable goals.
Set your own small goals and work toward bigger goals while keeping
in mind your $500/day goal as motivation. You need to reach base
camp before you can reach the pinnacle of the mountain!
Can you set small goals?
Take the next step and become that next success story
Take it easy,
Kyle & Carson

Hey Di, Livingston here!
You’re in WA too? If not, how’d you get the newsletter?
Just curious.
Anyway, thanks for the post. I wanted to register above
where it says “Register for your free 50 Page book.”
But nothing was clickable for me. What’s up with that?
Thanks again. And don’t forget, you owe me an email
Paul
Thanks for posting this Di, it makes a lot of sense. I have been online for just under 2 months and have learned a lot but still have far to go. It is helpful to have a coach but also one that points you in the right direction and gives you tips. I have been stuck on creating my own product and finding niche markets. I realized I just need to get over myself and get moving.
Thanks again,
Sarah

Hello Di,
We haven’t met yet, but I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I’m also in Alex’s course (no, I don’t consider it over). And, I was with Wealthy Affiliates for a couple of months, enough time to go through the 8 week training.
It all comes down to the space between our ears. How are we using what we already know?
Now it’s time to pick something and just follow through. I love the idea of setting small goals and working up. It’s definitely one step at a time.
All the best,
Theresa
It’s a nice blog. Nice to meet you…
Hello Di,
Nice piece of ‘Common Sense’
Like everything else in life, whether work or human relationships – in oder to achieve one needs clear ojectives, continuous effort, a positive attitude and the ability to stay the course. Equally important is to know when to modify one’s plans and approach to take advantage of the opportunities and overcome the adversties.
All the best.
